Oropesa del Mar celebrated this Sunday the Day of the Virgen de la Paciencia, the municipality's patron saint, with a day marked by religious events and the traditional procession.

The feast of the Virgen de la Paciencia, held on the first Sunday of October, brought together residents and devotees for the main religious ceremonies honoring the patron saint. The day began at 11:00 AM with the general ringing of bells, and at 11:30 AM, the Parroquia de San Jaime hosted the solemn High Mass. The choir Cor de Cambra Amalthea provided musical accompaniment for the ceremony.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, the Novena to the Virgen de la Paciencia began at the same parish. Subsequently, the solemn procession took place, one of the most anticipated moments of the Patron Saint's Festivities, winding through the main streets of the town and old quarter.
Following the procession, the traditional offering to the Virgin was made in the Plaza de la Iglesia in the old quarter, an emotional event that gathers devotees in an emblematic location to pay homage to the Patron Saint.
This year's celebration served as a meeting point for devotion, tradition, and local identity, preserving and passing down through generations one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the history of Oropesa del Mar.

“

"We experience today with a special feeling, starting with the morning homily and ending with the transfer of Our Patron Saint to her chapel, to whom we offered flowers today with our hearts."

Rafael Albert · Mayor
The Oropesa del Mar City Council highlighted the importance of this day for social cohesion and the preservation of the municipality's cultural and sentimental heritage, which reunites around the Virgen de la Paciencia and traditions that are part of its history.
