The city of Castelló is preparing for the revitalization of its former Federation Fields, located between Avinguda del Mar and Avinguda Germans Bou. The mayor, Begoña Carrasco, met with the president of the FFCV, Salvador Gomar, and the Councilor for Sports, Maica Hurtado, to detail the next steps.
The actions will include clearing and conditioning both the interior and exterior of the facilities, as well as their access points. According to Mayor Begoña Carrasco, these works "will begin imminently."
In parallel, a collaboration agreement between the Castelló City Council and the FFCV is being finalized, which will define the responsibilities of each entity for the spaces. This agreement will be completed before the end of 2026.
The plan is for the two new football fields, which will feature artificial turf, to be operational and available to clubs during 2027. These facilities have been inactive since 2011.
The Councilor for Sports, Maica Hurtado, recalled that the complex has been known to several generations of Castelló residents and highlighted the collaboration of the City Council and the FFCV, with the support of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the owner of the land.
The mayor emphasized the Municipal Government's commitment to promoting sports as an engine for the city's progress, aiming to foster an active and healthy lifestyle, especially among young people in grassroots sports.
Begoña Carrasco thanked the FFCV for its collaboration and the special involvement of its president, Salvador Gomar, in this project that will revitalize grassroots sports in Castelló through the recovery of emblematic sports facilities.

For his part, Salvador Gomar thanked the City Council and the mayor for their involvement in making it possible for the city to have this much-needed sports facility.
