The Mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, accompanied the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Conquest at the official presentation of Raquel Guillén as Na Violant of Hungary 2027. The event was attended by the Councilor for Festivities, Noelia Selma, the Councilor for Tourism, Arantxa Miralles, the Queen of the Festivities of Castellón 2026, Clara Sanz, the president of the Board of Festivities, Raúl, and other authorities and guests.
Carrasco highlighted the historical significance of the day, September 8, 2026, as it marks the 775th anniversary of the signing of the Privilege of Transfer by King James I. This original document, which will be on display for the coming weeks at the Menador building, signifies the city's founding. The mayor emphasized that the Festivities of La Magdalena are foundational, celebrating the birth of Castellón, and noted how history reflects the past through figures like King James I.
The first councilwoman pointed out that figures like Queen Na Violant of Hungary and her Ladies-in-Waiting are essential references connecting the city's past with its present. She highlighted their relevance in the 21st century and their ability to inspire admiration in the citizenry, who see themselves represented in civic entities like the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Conquest.
Addressing Raquel Guillén and the Ladies-in-Waiting Adriana Lapusa (Na Rama), Andrea Pérez Alonso (N’Ermengarda), Isabel Busto (Na Provençala), Luna Carrasco (Na Eva), Marta Ferrer (Na Dolça), and Mireia Cueves (Na Margarida), Carrasco remarked that they represent a new chapter in Castellón's history, spanning 775 years. She added that their journey is just beginning, filled with learning and responsibility, carrying the solemnity of centuries of history and valuable roles for the city.
Begoña Carrasco also recalled that the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Conquest celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, in addition to the 750th anniversary of King James I's death. She thanked Na Violant 2026, Victoria Arcos, and her Ladies-in-Waiting for their dedication, stating that their legacy will inspire the new figures.
