Researchers from the IATS-CSIC participated in the international congress Conference of European Comparative Endocrinologists (CECE2026), held last September in Barcelona.

Representatives from two research groups at the institute, Fish Reproduction Physiology and the Fish Neurobehavior Laboratory, took part in various activities of the congress. In addition to moderating two scientific sessions, the researchers presented four oral communications and two posters.
CECE2026 brings together international researchers and students to promote interdisciplinary knowledge in biology and medicine, focusing on comparative endocrinology. The sessions highlighted cutting-edge research, fostering collaboration and the dissemination of new discoveries.
Researcher Ana Gómez Peris moderated the session 'Endocrine control of reproduction' alongside Oliana Carnevali. During this session, the communication 'Species-specific duplication of gonadal soma-derived factor gene (gsdf) led to sex-biased expression and partial subfunctionalization in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)' was presented by Alessia Mascoli.
The session 'Endocrine control of energy balance and appetite' was moderated by Jose Miguel Cerdá-Reverter, together with Jose Luis Soengas and Suraj Unniappan. Cerdá-Reverter is also part of the international scientific committee for the organization of this congress and on the board of the ESCE.
The other three oral communications presented by IATS staff were: 'Nuclear estrogen receptors of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) as targets of endocrine disrupting compounds: effects on reproduction and risk assessment potential', by Cinta Zapater Cardona; 'Behavioural effects of dopamine depletion induced by CRISPR targeting of tyrosine hydroxylase in zebrafish', by Jose Miguel Cerdá-Reverter; and 'Seasonal dynamics of the ovarian follicular cell transcriptome in European sea bass: insights into steroidgenesis and thermal effects', by Amanda Paz Escorza.
Finally, two posters were presented: 'Development of a specific AMH ELISA for minimally invasive sex determination in loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta)', by Cinta Zapater Cardona, and 'Involvement of the transcriptional coactivator Ncoa7 in early gametogenesis and puberty of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)', by Ana Gómez Peris.
