The Mayor of Castelló, Begoña Carrasco, inspected in situ, at the Tetuán XIV facilities, the departure of the latest solidarity shipment bound for Venezuela. This shipment, comprising 24,000 kilos of food and essential products, was collected by the citizens of Castelló to aid those affected by the earthquake registered in the South American country.
Also present at the visit were the Councilor for Social Coexistence and Interculturality, Vicent Sales, and the delegate for Hispanidad of the Generalitat Valenciana, Mary Ponte. The mayor highlighted Castelló's solidarity, emphasizing the ties that unite the city with Venezuela, where nearly 3,000 Venezuelans reside, to whom support is extended during these difficult times.
The delegate for Hispanidad, Mary Ponte, expressed satisfaction in witnessing the solidarity of the Valencian Community, thanks to the initiative of Venezuelan associations and coordination with city councils, provincial councils, and the Generalitat. She highlighted the commitment of the Castelló City Council and its Interculturality department towards the communities residing in the municipality.
The aid collection began with the campaign “Your help brings hope, your generosity saves lives,” promoted by the Association of Venezuelans in Castelló (Asovecas), chaired by Luis Méndez, with the support of the City Council. The solidarity material has been progressively transported to Valencia, and today's supervised departure completes the total cargo that will soon set sail.
The organization Meals4Hope will receive the solidarity shipment in Venezuela, an organization focused on community food and nutrition programs for children in impoverished communities of the country. The solidarity material has departed for Valencia and will set sail for Venezuela next Sunday.
