A total of 20 pairs, consisting of grandparents and their grandchildren, will participate in this initiative promoted by the Department of Senior Citizens. The aim is to strengthen intergenerational bonds through cooking, family recipes, and local products. The public can attend the competition as spectators.
The Councilor for Senior Citizens, Clara Adsuara, highlighted that the project is a model of intergenerational work that values tradition, family sentiment, and knowledge of local foods and recipes. She added that it is a competition full of enthusiasm that ensures the preservation of Castelló's essence.
The competition will unfold in three stages. In the first, pairs must prepare a salad with vinaigrette or sauce. The second stage involves preparing an omelet. Finalists will cook a complete menu with a main course and dessert based on family recipes.
In this way, Sènior Xef aims to transform cooking into a space for exchanging knowledge, memories, and traditions, valuing the experience of seniors and its transmission to younger generations.
The winning pair will receive a gastronomic experience for four people, a trophy, and a voucher for kitchen equipment. The second prize includes a 150 euro gift voucher and a diploma, while the third-place finisher will receive a 90 euro gift voucher and a diploma. All participants will receive an apron and a participation diploma.
Following the success of last year's edition, Sènior Xef once again focuses on cooking as a meeting point for generations and a vehicle for preserving Castelló's family recipes, flavors, and traditions.
