The Castellón City Council is launching its first Happiness Month this October, an initiative aimed at promoting integral well-being and emotional health for citizens through various free activities.

Throughout October, Castellón de la Plana will host its first Happiness Month, an initiative by the City Council's Public Health department. The main objective is to foster integral well-being, emotional health, healthy habits, and social relationships among citizens. The program includes four free, participatory activities, coinciding with the World Mental Health Day on October 10th.
The Councilor for Public Health, Luciano Ferrer, presented the initiative alongside Mari Carmen Moles, third vice-dean of the College of Psychologists of the Valencian Community, and students from the Jaume I University. Ferrer emphasized the importance of incorporating small daily habits, such as physical activity and social interaction, to improve physical and emotional health, and consequently, happiness.
The program will kick off on Saturday, October 3rd, with a free zumba class in the Plaça Major, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, led by instructors Seluco Fernández and Patricia Rolón. This activity aims to bring exercise outdoors and promote community engagement.
The second event will be a healthy walk on Thursday, October 22nd, starting from various health centers in Castellón and concluding at Parc Ribalta. Participants will engage in a group physiotherapy workshop and share a healthy breakfast. The activity, organized by physiotherapy professionals from the city's health centers, requires prior registration.
On Thursday, October 29th, at 7:00 PM, the Edifici Menador will host the conference ‘Happiness Strategies: Small Habits for Every Week’, delivered by Margarita Álvarez, CEO of Working for Happiness. The talk will address human well-being and daily habits to improve quality of life. Capacity is limited to 160 people, and prior registration is necessary.
Additionally, the reels contest ‘Light, Camera, and Happiness’ has been launched, inviting residents to express what happiness means to them in a vertical video of up to 80 seconds. The contest offers a first prize of 300 euros and a second prize of 150 euros. A professional jury will evaluate the entries, and the awards ceremony will be held at the Castellón City Hall.
Luciano Ferrer highlighted the desire for citizens to be protagonists, asserting that a healthy city fosters coexistence, social relationships, and emotional well-being. The initiative is developed around World Mental Health Day to focus on the importance of emotional health care.
