The Borriol City Council has approved in its municipal plenary session the renaming of the current Avenue of Golf to Avenida Sergio García, in recognition of the golfer's sporting career.

The Avenue of Golf, located in the La Coma Urbanization, will now be known as Avenida Sergio García. This municipal decision honors the distinguished sporting and professional career of the golfer born in Borriol.
Sergio García Fernández has achieved a notable international career, including winning the 2017 Masters Tournament and participating in numerous Ryder Cups, establishing himself as a leading figure in Spanish and European golf.
His connection to Borriol is particularly significant, as the town is his birthplace and where he began his sporting training at the Club de Golf del Mediterráneo.
Through this new designation, the City Council aims to acknowledge a career defined by effort, perseverance, discipline, self-improvement, and excellence, as well as his role in promoting Borriol's name internationally.
Borriol thus pays permanent tribute to an internationally prestigious sporting personality and highlights the history and importance of golf in the municipality.
