The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Alicante Transfusion Center and the City Council's Health and Festivals departments, is traditionally held as a prelude to the main festivities honoring the Jubilee and the Santísimo Cristo del Buen Acierto.
The Councilor for Health, Marisa Cortés, emphasized the importance of maintaining donations to ensure necessary hospital reserves. "With a simple gesture, we can help save lives," she stated, encouraging citizen participation.
For her part, the Councilor for Festivals and Traditions, Sandra Gómez, highlighted the campaign's link to the main festivities and the role of the festive groups, who are encouraged to get involved to "unite solidarity and celebration".
As an incentive, all donors will receive a gift, and a prize will be awarded to the most solidary festive group.
To donate blood, individuals must be at least 18 years old, weigh over 50 kilograms, and be in good health. It is essential to bring an official identification document and not donate on an empty stomach. Medical staff will conduct a prior interview.
