The L'Alfàs del Pi City Council has emphasized the normality with which this weekend's torrential rainfall episode, which dropped 68 liters per square meter, proceeded, despite the red alert issued by the Emergency Coordination Center.

Municipal Technical Services and the Local Police remained vigilant to the meteorological evolution, carrying out surveillance tasks to ensure public safety. As a precautionary measure, the Albir market had been canceled and municipal outdoor public spaces closed.
The Council highlights the contribution of prevention and rainwater management actions, such as the channeling works of Barranco Hondo and the rainwater capture and diversion works in l'Albir, financed with European NextGenerationEU funds. The cleaning of drains has also been crucial for water evacuation.

"The rainfall recorded in recent hours reminds us of the importance of being prepared and continuing to invest in infrastructure that improves rainwater evacuation. The channeling works of Barranco Hondo and the rainwater capture and diversion actions in l’Albir, along with the cleaning of drains, have contributed to this episode passing without significant incidents."

Toni Such · Councilor for Citizen Security
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Toni Such, has highlighted the importance of these actions and the preventive work of municipal services, stating that "although we cannot prevent it from raining, we can work to minimize its consequences and protect citizens".
Such also thanked the work of the Technical Services and the Local Police, as well as the citizen collaboration. "Faced with a red alert, the absolute priority is people's safety. Therefore, we adopt preventive measures such as canceling the Albir market and temporarily closing municipal outdoor public spaces. We want to thank the citizens for their understanding and collaboration, as respecting recommendations and safety measures is essential to face these situations with the utmost guarantees," he added.
The L'Alfàs del Pi City Council reminds the public of the importance of staying informed through official channels and following the instructions of emergency services during adverse weather events.
