L’Alfàs del Pi has hosted the closing of the fifth edition of the UN-ONU's UN-CMCoord course, which brought together 22 professionals from eight nationalities to improve coordination in emergencies and conflicts.

The town has been the setting for this international training, organized by Helsinki Spain in collaboration with OCHA (the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs). The course has facilitated the exchange of experiences between humanitarian professionals and military personnel from countries such as Spain and Australia, as well as UN agencies (UNFPA, UNHCR) and organizations like Doctors of the World and INSO.
The main objective has been to strengthen coordination mechanisms in crisis contexts, analyzing situations where communication is essential to ensure the safe and independent work of humanitarian organizations and to establish an appropriate relationship with military actors.
The celebration of this edition consolidates the collaboration between the City Council of l’Alfàs del Pi and these organizations, turning the municipality into an international meeting point. The presence of participants from Europe, North America, South America, Oceania, and the Middle East has brought an important global dimension to the activity.
As complementary activities, participants took an excursion through the Serra Gelada, one of the municipality's main natural spaces, fostering exchange in an environment different from the training sessions. The training gains special relevance given the increase in complex emergencies and extreme phenomena, such as the recent DANA that affected the Valencian Community.
The City Council of l’Alfàs del Pi has highlighted that initiatives like this contribute to strengthening preparedness and shared knowledge, as well as positioning the municipality in international cooperation. The initiative is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Defence and the Valencian Government.
