The City Council of L'Alfàs del Pi, represented by the Councilor for Health, Marisa Cortés, has participated in the XIII Conference on Local Implementation of the Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy, held in Madrid.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Health and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), focused on promoting healthy and alcohol-free environments for children and adolescents. L'Alfàs del Pi has been part of the Spanish Network of Healthy Cities since 2016.
The aim of the conference was to analyze the role of local entities in preventing harms associated with alcohol consumption, especially among minors. Experiences and good practices were shared, and challenges for creating safe environments for children and adolescents were addressed.
“

"Municipalities have a fundamental responsibility in prevention because we are the administration closest to the citizens and we know the needs of our environment. It is essential to work so that our children and adolescents grow up in safe spaces, with healthy leisure alternatives and with information that helps them make responsible decisions."

Marisa Cortés · Councilor for Health
Cortés highlighted the importance of the involvement of the entire community, including families, educational centers, and associations, to move towards a healthier society and protect the well-being of younger generations.
The proximity of local entities to drive policies adapted to each territory and coordination between administrations and social agents to prevent risky behaviors and promote healthy lifestyles are emphasized. The 'Agente Tutor' (Tutor Agent) program was also highlighted to strengthen collaboration with educational centers.
The conference is part of the Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy in the National Health System and continues initiatives to prevent alcohol sales to minors, in preparation for World No Alcohol Day on November 15th.
The Spanish Network of Healthy Cities, part of FEMP, brings together 563 local entities and works to promote municipal policies that favor public health and well-being, including the prevention of tobacco and alcohol consumption.
