The cultural project 'La Vila Vella' will once again fill the streets of the historic center of Villajoyosa during the upcoming weekend, from September 11, 12, and 13. This initiative, organized by the Ayuntamiento de Villajoyosa with the collaboration of numerous volunteers, will offer over 40 activities and performances spread across the streets and squares of the historic neighborhood.
The event's setup has been underway all week, with final details for each intervention being finalized this Thursday. To facilitate the work, traffic closures have been implemented in the performance areas, along with parking prohibitions in various zones from Thursday until Sunday.
From Thursday, September 10, to Sunday, September 13, circulation and parking are prohibited throughout the historic center. Additionally, the Plaza de la Generalitat will have parking restrictions until Sunday at 11:59 PM.
The Carrer Costera la Mar will also have parking restrictions until Saturday at 11:59 PM. The street will be closed to traffic on Friday, September 11, from 6:00 PM to midnight, and on Saturday from 6:00 PM until the end of the scheduled activities.
On Saturday, September 12, the Avenida País Valencià, from Carrer Pizarro to the bridge over the Amadorio River, will be closed to traffic from 9:30 PM to approximately 10:30 PM. There will also be brief traffic closures on Saturday from 11:00 PM to 11:30 PM on the Paseo de la Playa Centro (Paseo Dr. José María Esquerdo).
The Villajoyosa City Council asks residents and visitors to pay attention to the street signage and the instructions from the Local Police officers.
The 'La Vila Vella' program combines heritage, urban art, music, gastronomy, and adventure activities. It includes traditional attractions like hot air balloon rides and the zipline, alongside a tattoo area, guided tours, concerts, children's workshops, and food trucks.
The official inauguration will take place on Friday, September 11, at 9:30 PM in the Plaza de la Iglesia, followed by a video mapping show. Earlier, attendees can enjoy the zipline at Plaça Castell, hot air balloon rides in the l’Antoneta area, a photographic exhibition, guided tours, and visits to the Passeig de Ronda.
On Saturday, September 12, activities will kick off in the morning with guided tours, a Quick Painting contest, children's workshops, a tattoo zone, and the Open House event. In the afternoon and evening, the squares and streets of the old town will feature multidisciplinary performances: tango shows, street opera, the Valencia Gospel Choir, magic shows, street art exhibitions, and video mapping projections.
On Sunday, September 13, guided tours of the municipality, Open House program visits, the zipline, and a musical performance by Dossier at 1:00 PM will be offered.
During Saturday and Sunday, the third edition of the Open House festival will take place, offering free access to 14 selected buildings and spaces of architectural and historical interest, such as the Casa Grafito or the Torrejó de la Plaza Generalitat.

Mayor Marcos Zaragoza emphasized that the project "will once again put Villajoyosa in the place it deserves." He, along with council members Marisa Mingot and Rosa Llorca, invited residents and tourists to discover the "magical" parts of this neighborhood.
