The cultural initiative La Vila Vella, organized by the Villajoyosa City Council, will take place from Friday, September 11th, to Sunday, September 13th, extending to three days to offer a broader program. The event highlights the historic neighborhood, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), aiming to bring it to life and attract both residents and visitors.
Mayor Marcos Zaragoza emphasized that the event features nearly 40 cultural, musical, and heritage activities, noting it as a consolidated occasion that draws people from across the region and province. Culture Councilor Marisa Mingot added that the program covers all areas and audiences, with music, urban art, photography, artistic interventions, and dance, making La Vila Vella an unmissable date.
The program will blend heritage, urban art, music, gastronomy, and adventure activities. Highlights include the traditional hot air balloon rides and zip-lining, a tattoo zone, guided tours, musical performances, children's workshops, and food trucks. On Friday, September 11th, the official inauguration will be at 9:30 PM in the Plaza de la Iglesia, followed by a video mapping show. Earlier, attendees can enjoy zip-lining at Plaza Castell, hot air balloon rides in the l’Antoneta area, a photographic exhibition, visits to the Paseo de Ronda, and food trucks from 7:30 PM in Plaza de San Cristóbal, which will also host a DJ set by Natural Groove Brothers.
Saturday, September 12th, will kick off with guided tours, a Quick Painting Contest (10:00 AM), children's workshops, a tattoo zone, and the Open House event. In the afternoon and evening, the old town's squares and streets will feature multidisciplinary performances: a tango show with Analía Bueti, street opera, the Valencia Gospel Choir at Muralla de Costera la Mar, magic shows, street art exhibitions by A. Tudela Eyou245 and Nanovaz, the show «Quan cau el llençol» in the Plaza de la Generalitat, and video mapping projections on the beach promenade. There will also be a tattoo zone at the Casa de la Juventud and a vermouth area in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
On Sunday, September 13th, guided tours, Open House program visits, zip-lining, a vermouth area in the Plaza de la Iglesia, and a musical performance by Dossier (1:00 PM) are scheduled.
The third edition of the Open House festival will take place on Saturday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 13th (from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM), offering free access to a selection of 14 architecturally and historically significant properties and spaces in the historic center, such as Casa Grafito, Casa del Ratoncito Pérez, the Torrejó de la Plaza Generalitat, and the terrace and balcony of the Casa de la Juventud.
