The festivities of San Agustín in the beach neighborhood of Villajoyosa, located in the lower part of the historic center, will take place this year from August 26 to August 31. The celebration dedicated to the saint will begin on Thursday, August 26, at 7:00 PM.
On Thursday, August 27, the saint's image will make its traditional descent to the central beach from Polop street, following the Costera de la Mar to la Bomba street. Afterwards, the traditional “sopar de cabasset” (bring-your-own-food supper) will be held.
On Friday, August 28, there will be a mass at 7:00 PM in La Bomba street, followed by a procession at 8:00 PM. At 9:30 PM, Lidia Arroyo Romà, the 2026 town crier, will deliver the opening speech, and the night will continue with performances by the group Persimmons and Dj Morrison.
On Saturday, August 29, the day will start with a “despertà” (wake-up call) at 9:00 AM, followed by children's water activities and a foam party at noon, and popular games at 1:00 PM at El Bassi.
At 7:30 PM, the XXII “Cruet de Peix” Contest will take place on Doctor José María Esquerdo promenade. The winners will be announced at 9:00 PM. The musical night will feature the Tribute Band and DJs Toni Medina, Eugeniet, and Andrew, culminating in a midnight fireworks display and chocolate distribution.
On Sunday, after the “despertà,” “olleta de blat” (a traditional wheat stew) will be offered, and in the afternoon, a water hose-down will take place. The festivities will conclude on Monday, August 31, at 8:00 PM with the image of the saint being carried back to Polop street.
As a new initiative, a Violet Point and a Rainbow Point will be set up on Saturday, August 29, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM, at Playa Centro, near the statue of Doctor Álvaro Esquerdo. These points, promoted by the Department of Social Services and Equality, will offer awareness and intervention regarding possible sexist and sexual aggressions, and hate crimes against the LGTBI+ community.
The Violet Point will have a psychologist specialized in violence against women and technical staff, while the Rainbow Point, in collaboration with Viladiversitat and Arcoíris Entiende, will provide specialized attention and information on sexual and gender diversity, as well as HIV and STI testing. Preventive materials against chemical submission will also be distributed.
