The Villajoyosa City Council continues its Neighborhood Ombudsman campaign throughout 2026. This Wednesday, councilwoman Ana Alcázar, the ombudsman assigned to the Barberes Sud-Puerto neighborhood, met with residents in the new park on Pedro Ruiz street. During the meeting, residents' requests and suggestions regarding municipal services were collected.
The interaction was characterized by a "one-on-one" approach, and the Governing Team will subsequently analyze the proposals to incorporate them into specific actions or provide solutions as soon as possible. Ana Alcázar emphasized the importance of detailed analysis by municipal departments to offer effective responses.
The session also served to inform residents about direct communication channels with the City Council. Among these, "El Pregoner" was presented, a dissemination channel on Whatsapp and Telegram that provides updated daily information and is available in three languages, including English for foreign residents. Additionally, the "Vilajoiosa" app can be used to report incidents and access municipal information.
Attendees also had the opportunity to complete an online survey, launched by the City Council on its website, to provide opinions on the management and satisfaction of the services offered. This questionnaire is also accessible through the official City Council website, the "El Pregoner" digital channels, and the "VilaJoiosa" app.
The Neighborhood Ombudsman initiative began in 2023 with the aim of providing more personalized attention. The municipality was divided into nine areas, with each ombudsman responsible for overseeing public services and addressing the needs of residents in their assigned zone. These meetings are held periodically.
The distribution of ombudsmen includes councilor Peyo Lloret (area from AP-7 to Orxeta, Finestrat road to El Campello, including the reservoir), Carlos Soler (La Ermita, AP-7 to N-332, term of Finestrat to El Campello), Pedro Ramis (Pelayo street to El Campello, Xarco, Montíboli, Paradís, Poble Nou, N-332a to the beachfront), Paco Pérez (N-332 to Estudiantes beach, Avenida del Mediterráneo to Torres river), and Jaime Santamaría (Torres river to La Cala, Talaies, N-332 to the beachfront in this area).
Meanwhile, councilwoman Marisa Mingot covers the area between Pianista Lozano avenue and the Cemetery road, extending to the Finestrat road and N-332 to País Valencià avenue. Ana Alcázar's district focuses from Varadero avenue to the N-332 and the Port road. Maite Sánchez is the ombudsman for the urban center, Pati Fosc, Horta, La Torreta, and the Mitjanet district; and councilwoman Rosa Llorca serves the historic center and Centro beach, from Pelayo street to Varadero avenue and up to N-332a.
