The fire, which is located near the municipality of Benissa, may have been caused by a lightning strike during the storm. Weather conditions, including strong wind gusts and rainfall, are hindering firefighting efforts, particularly the use of aerial assets.
The change in weather was sudden across the region. According to Avamet data, temperatures have dropped drastically, falling from values near 40 degrees to 21 degrees in towns like Pego. Additionally, significant wind gusts have been recorded, such as the 91 km/h measured in the Granadella area of Xàbia.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation. It is hoped that the rain and increased humidity will help contain the fire in the coming hours.
