The municipality of Parcent has called on its residents to drastically reduce water consumption, following a warning from the Community of Irrigators and Users of the Vall de Pop about dwindling reserves.

The Community of Irrigators and Users of the Vall de Pop, Parcent's water provider, has informed the local council that high temperatures and increased consumption are causing a drastic drop in well reserves. Consequently, the entity has urged the municipality to implement all necessary water-saving measures, including fixing leaks and prohibiting the use of mains water for filling swimming pools and watering gardens.
Parcent Town Hall, which has previously requested consumption limits, has now urged its residents to use the supply responsibly, reducing it to a maximum of 90 liters per person per day. The council reiterates the ban on filling swimming pools and watering gardens or orchards with mains water, and requests that any potential leaks be checked.
Simple water-saving gestures are reminded, such as shorter showers, turning off the tap when not in use, and running washing machines and dishwashers only when full. The Marina Alta region, despite winter and spring rains, faces summer water supply issues due to repeated heatwaves that spike consumption, exacerbated by its dispersed urban development model with numerous chalets featuring pools and gardens.
