The Marina Alta region experienced extreme temperatures this Wednesday, August 19th, surpassing 39 degrees Celsius before the official red alert for heat, declared by Aemet, was activated at 1:00 PM. According to Avamet data, by 12:45 PM, temperatures had already exceeded 39 degrees in locations such as Pedreguer, l’Atzúvia, and the center of Pego.
Half an hour later, at 1:28 PM, the Dénia City Council reported that the Madrigueres area had also surpassed 39 degrees. The heat continued to intensify throughout the afternoon.
By 2:30 PM, Avamet indicated that Pedreguer and Benigembla were approaching 41 degrees Celsius, while Pego, Els Poblets, and La Vall de Gallinera had already exceeded 40 degrees.
