The forecast of a new heatwave has led the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) to raise the alert in the Marina Alta region to orange level, signifying 'significant danger' due to high temperatures. The warning will be activated tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1 PM.
Initially, the alert was planned at yellow level, but intensified forecasts necessitated an increase. Orange is the second-highest level on Aemet's scale, just below the maximum risk red level, which will be in effect tomorrow in the neighboring Safor region.
With this alert, maximum temperatures of up to 39 degrees Celsius are expected in the Marina Alta. The activation period currently spans from 1 PM to 9 PM on Wednesday. No alerts are active for Thursday at this time.
