Residents and tourists in Calp find themselves in an unsustainable situation due to the garbage strike affecting the town in the middle of August, coinciding with the peak of the tourist season. The image of the town filled with waste has generated deep indignation among residents and visitors.
Negotiations between the workers and the concessionaire company, Acciona, are at a standstill, which has prolonged the container collapse situation. Faced with the persistence of dirt and bad odors, some residents have decided to take matters into their own hands, even using hoses to clean the sidewalks near the containers that were in a deplorable state.
“"The situation is unsustainable, we can't live like this."
The lack of solutions from the company and the continuation of the strike put Calp's tourist image and the quality of life of its inhabitants at risk, who are demanding an urgent resolution to the conflict.
