The fire, which started in a lot with debris and dense vegetation near El Raset beach in Dénia, stopped short of the residential areas. The land, formerly the site of the Memphis nightclub, was a tinderbox, and a single spark ignited a fierce blaze.
The flames necessitated confining residents in nearby apartments and evacuating El Raset beach. The smoke was thick and intensely black, indicating the severity of the fire.
The fire has now been extinguished, leaving behind an ash-covered landscape. The incident also highlighted the presence of debris, trash, and the site's state of neglect. A boarded-up structure, intended to prevent squatting, also sustained damage.
