A new nautical accident occurred this Sunday in the Marina Alta region, specifically off the coast of Cala del Llebeig, shared by Poble Nou de Benitatxell and Teulada Moraira. A crew member of a rental boat suffered cuts from the boat's propeller while swimming. The exact details of the incident have not been disclosed, but it is known that the crew had rented the vessel in Calp.
Initially, there were concerns about the severity of the cuts, and an evacuation of the injured person via Cala del Llebeig or Cala del Moraig was considered for a rapid transfer to the hospital. However, the cuts were not as severe as initially feared. Ultimately, the crew member was able to be transferred on the same boat to the port of Moraira. There, a SAMU medical team attended to him and subsequently transferred him to Dénia hospital.
This incident is part of a summer marked by significant maritime activity and several accidents in the Marina Alta, particularly in Xàbia, which experiences high nautical pressure. In previous days, a 65-year-old French national got her foot caught in the propeller of her boat in Xàbia. Red Cross rescue teams acted quickly to staunch the bleeding and transferred her to Dénia hospital.
Last July, the most serious accident occurred in Xàbia when a 32-year-old young woman from Dénia died after being struck by the boat she had rented with friends.
