The detainees were part of a transnational itinerant criminal network, highly specialized in stealing high-value jewelry and watches from elderly individuals. The investigation began following several reports of thefts occurring near supermarkets in Dénia during the summer.
Victims reported that a young woman would approach them with hugs and caresses in supermarket parking lots, then quickly flee in a car, only realizing later that their jewelry or watches had been stolen. Police inquiries determined that the perpetrators belonged to an international group with high geographical mobility.
Following surveillance operations, the couple was apprehended. One victim had a gold chain and two gold medals, valued at 500 euros, stolen. The detainees have been handed over to the investigating courts of Dénia.
This criminal method involves approaching elderly people wearing valuable watches or jewelry, charming them with hugs and caresses while stealing their valuables. Groups typically operate in pairs or trios, with a man driving the getaway vehicle and remaining on watch, while the women carry out the thefts.
