The city of Dénia has given the green light for the construction of a permanent circuit dedicated to BTT (Mountain Biking) and cyclocross. The new facility, located in the Madrigueres Nord area, next to the Via Verda and close to the urban center, fulfills a long-standing demand from local cycling clubs.
The circuit will feature a 2.5-kilometer loop with a 4-meter width, designed to host both regular training sessions and official competitions. The Sports Department has defined the project in collaboration with the town's two cycling clubs, aiming to meet the athletes' needs.
Construction work has already commenced, and it is expected to be completed around September, coinciding with the start of the next sporting season. The project includes site clearing and preparation, the creation of a sand pit, a mound with sleepers, a pit area, and parking facilities.
The proximity to the municipal sports center is another key advantage, allowing for the use of existing services such as changing rooms and facilitating the organization of events. The Councilor for Sports, Valen Alcalà, emphasized the goal of creating a dynamic space that fosters these disciplines from the grassroots level and hosts regional league races.
Furthermore, the circuit's versatility could allow its use for other sporting activities, such as school cross-country athletics events, a possibility that has already generated interest among educational institutions. The launch of this infrastructure will diversify Dénia's sports offerings and provide local cyclists with more resources.
