The Camí del Llavador, a low-lying area in Dénia, was found completely submerged in sewage water this weekend, despite no rain. The cause is an annoying and smelly leak in the wastewater impulse collector leading to the EPSAR (treatment plant).
This situation has forced the closure of traffic on the road, causing serious inconvenience to residents and passers-by. Dénia City Council has announced that repair work on the leak has already begun and is expected to finish tomorrow. In the meantime, the road will remain closed.
The affected area is urban. To carry out the collector repair, it has been necessary to empty approximately 8 kilometers of sewage system. Once the intervention is complete, the road surface will be thoroughly cleaned and the section affected by the breakdown will be resurfaced.
The proximity of this flooded hollow to the IES Maria Ibars and the accumulation of wet wipes found in the roadside bushes already suggested problems with the sanitation network in this area of Dénia, indicating that the infrastructure might not be prepared for the summer tourist influx.
