Xàtiva is exploring the international declaration for the Fira d’Agost after analyzing the influx of foreign visitors during the 2025 edition. The council has presented a detailed report, compiled using a mobile phone tracking system, which reveals significant data on attendee origins.
The 2025 Fira d’Agost attracted a total of 273,539 visitors, of whom 100,638 (58%) were residents of the Valencian Community. 28% (48,604 people) came from the rest of Spain, while 13% (21,684 people) were international visitors. These figures, if confirmed in the 2026 edition, will open the door to applying for international recognition, according to Mayor Roger Cerdà.
Currently, the Fair holds national distinction. The mayor noted that international declaration requires meeting new criteria, including real visitor numbers. The council will work intensively to fulfill all requirements and achieve international recognition for the Fira d’Agost.
The tracking system also provided information on visitor profiles. The day with the highest attendance was August 15th, with 46,021 people. The predominant age group among attendees is 40-49 years old, followed by the 30-39 and 50-59 age groups. The gender distribution was nearly equal, with 50.2% men and 49.8% women.
The Councilor for Festive Culture, Maria Beltrán, highlighted the fair's strong attraction to the immediate surroundings, particularly from towns like Canals, València, Ontinyent, and Carcaixent. She also emphasized the national and international tourist impact, with a notable presence of visitors from France, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Daily overnight stays ranged between 1,047 and 1,459, demonstrating the fair's economic impact on sectors such as hospitality, catering, and commerce. Beltrán described the tracking system as a valuable tool for better understanding the Fira's reality and managing it more rigorously, enabling better planning for future editions.
The mayor added that, including Xàtiva residents not covered by the system, the visitor count exceeds 300,000 people. Cerdà stressed the importance of leveraging the Fair as an element of tourism and economic promotion, yielding significant returns for the city.
