The town of Bicorp has cancelled at the last minute the solar eclipse viewing event scheduled for this afternoon. The Ecomuseum of La Canal has made this decision, considering that the complete observation of the astronomical event is not possible from the municipality without accessing forest land, a circumstance incompatible with current restrictions due to extreme fire risk.
As communicated by the organization, the new limitations imposed by Emergencies and the Government Sub-delegation have led to the suspension of the event, which had a large number of registered participants. The Ecomuseum has informed that registered attendees can collect safety glasses for eclipse viewing during two time slots: until 2:30 PM at the Ecomuseum and from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Local Police office.
The decision comes in a context of level 3 pre-emergency for extreme forest fire risk in the Valencian Community, which involves significant limitations in mountainous areas. Authorities strongly recommend not to travel to natural or difficult-to-access areas for observation, and to prioritize urban spaces.
For its part, the Canals City Council has also reinforced precautionary measures due to the expectation of a high number of visitors. The public has been asked to avoid gatherings in natural areas such as El Túnel and Les Moles, due to fire risk. Additionally, several motorized access routes have been restricted, and the number of bins and the presence of Local Police have been increased.
Authorities remind that the eclipse can be observed from any point within the municipal area with a clear western horizon, using approved glasses, and emphasize the importance of not endangering forest areas.
