The measure, currently under study by municipal technicians, aims to strengthen property protection against damage caused by intense rainfall. Council officials are now working to define the administrative formula, as well as the requirements and documentation needed to access this aid.
This initiative responds to the damage recorded on September 16th, when a strong storm left nearly 74 liters per square meter in half an hour. Areas such as Parc Central, Padre Méndez, San Valeriano, Virgen del Olivar, and Constitución were some of the points where water entered building entrances and businesses.
In parallel, the council has announced the installation of floodgates at the entrances to the municipal parking lot on Juan Carlos I Avenue to prevent water from entering the facility. These actions are part of a broader plan that includes the construction of the future storm tank in Parc Central, a project that already has funding from the EDIL-DANA European funds.
