The Conselleria de Cultura has granted the Silla City Council an allocation of €6,824.40. This subsidy, part of the Restaura Plan, is for modernization, conservation, equipping, and adaptation of infrastructures for recognized museums and permanent museographic collections, as well as for the conservation and restoration of movable assets of significant heritage value in the Valencian Community.
The conservation of historical and artistic heritage is a priority for the Silla Museum of History and Archaeology (MARS), which constantly seeks funding for this objective. With this subsidy, MARS will be able to undertake the restoration of three Roman-era mural pictorial panels, approximately dated between the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. These paintings are a testament to the luxury and culture of the Roman villas that existed in the region.
The paintings, which feature a wide variety of motifs and colors, will require a respectful and minimally invasive restoration. The aim is to ensure their long-term preservation and improve visitor understanding. The council reiterates its commitment to continue working to maintain and promote the municipality's heritage.
