The works, promoted by the Agriculture department, focused on a section of 3,500 to 4,000 linear meters, between Pista de Silla and La Marjal. Priority was given to removing invasive vegetation, such as common reed, which was obstructing water flow, as well as dry plant debris and floating materials.
The work included a preliminary inspection to identify areas with the highest vegetation accumulation and difficult access zones. Safety and signage measures were also implemented for operators and machinery, and native riverside fauna and flora were protected.
The management of plant waste, including biomass from the common reed, was carried out by avoiding burning and transferring it to an authorized handler or biomass valorization plant.
The Font de la Rambleta is a significant infrastructure for Catarroja's water drainage network, collecting contributions from various canals and streams, and serving as a main route for rainwater from the urban center. Its connection to the Divisoria canal allows water to be channeled towards the Port of Catarroja.
With this action, the Catarroja City Council maintains the proper functioning of the canal, which is essential for adequate water drainage, especially given vegetation accumulation.
