The Paterna City Council has celebrated the halving of active job seekers in just over a decade, decreasing from 8,764 people in 2013 to 4,332 in September 2026.

This reduction represents a decrease of 4,432 individuals and places the municipal unemployment rate at 8.77%, a figure that brings Paterna closer to full technical employment. In 2013, the rate stood at 18.73%.
The Mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo, attributed these positive results to the work carried out through the Paterna Economic Development Strategy, focused on strengthening local businesses, attracting new investments, and generating job opportunities. Sagredo emphasized the goal of translating Paterna's economic growth into well-being for its residents, stating, "behind every person who finds employment, there is a family and a life project that moves forward."
The favorable trend is also reflected in the volume of hiring. During the first nine months of 2026, 28,924 contracts were registered, averaging over 3,200 per month. September stood out with 4,004 hires.
The Councillor for Employment, Lucas Jodar, stated, "these figures encourage us to continue working with companies to bring job opportunities closer to those seeking work and improve their chances of finding employment." Jodar added that "training, career guidance, and understanding the needs of our business community are fundamental."
The municipal report also records 57,002 affiliations to the General Social Security Regime, more than double the 22,839 registered in 2003. These results are part of the dynamism of Paterna's business fabric, which boasts 5,958 economic activities, representing 26.12% of the total for the Horta Nord region.
