The Paterna City Council is finalizing procedures to directly assume the city's street cleaning services, ending 20 years of external management by its public company, GESPA.

This change will allow for increased municipal control over the cleanliness of streets and public spaces, improved work organization, and more agile responses to the needs of different neighborhoods.
Paterna's Mayor, Juan Antonio Sagredo, announced this, emphasizing, “We know this is a brave and clear commitment to a direct and efficient service. Paterna's cleanliness has always been a fundamental pillar of our project, and this decision reinforces our commitment”.
The new management will be accompanied by a budgetary reinforcement of nearly four million euros annually to improve the service and adapt it to Paterna's population growth, as the city now exceeds 78,000 inhabitants.
Regarding this, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Quality, Nuria Campos, explained that “this new model will allow us to organize the service more closely aligned with the needs of each neighborhood and act more agilely where necessary”.
Through this municipalization, the socialist executive aims to give a new boost to urban cleaning, with a more effective service and an improvement that citizens can perceive in their daily lives, thus responding to one of the main demands of the residents.
