The Paterna City Council has enhanced its Local Police force by equipping vehicles with 23 state-of-the-art first-aid kits and providing specialized first-aid training to improve emergency response.

Paterna's police force now features 23 cutting-edge first-aid kits distributed across its vehicles. These new kits expand and update previous equipment, offering officers more comprehensive tools for initial care until medical services arrive.
The Deputy Mayor for Emergencies, Núria Campos, highlighted the measure's significance: “Our local police officers are often the first responders to an emergency. Therefore, we continue to strengthen both their training and the resources they have to provide rapid care that can be decisive in saving lives.”
Each kit includes key items such as a manual resuscitation bag (ambu), a Dechoker anti-choking device, tourniquets and hemostatic bandages, hydrogel compresses for burns, Guedel airways, anesthesia masks, a thermal blanket, clothing scissors, a mouth gag, tongue forceps, a sharps container, and gel cold packs.
This enhancement of resources will be complemented by a first-aid course organized by the Paterna Local Police Training School. The training will be delivered by specialized nursing staff from the Valencian Community Health Emergency Service (SESCV).
The course will focus on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, immediate action protocols for airway obstruction due to choking, control of severe bleeding using tourniquets and compression bandages, and initial care for burn victims.
Campos stated that “this initiative ensures a better-equipped and prepared Local Police force to respond to emergency situations, reinforcing the safety and protection of our residents.”
