The emerging theater showcase 'Escènia', organized by the Foios City Council, has concluded its XXIV edition with an awards ceremony, where 'Zorra Dorada' was honored by the jury and 'Original Greek' by the audience.

The Casa de los Artilleros in Foios hosted on Friday, July 10, the awards ceremony for the XXIV edition of the ‘Escènia, mostra de teatre emergent’ festival. The play ‘Zorra Dorada’ was recognized by the jury, while the audience gave its mention to the piece ‘Original Greek’.
‘Zorra Dorada’, a multidisciplinary creation by Barbecho Productions (Madrid and Zaragoza) and written by Elisa Forcano, has received the jury award, endowed with 4,000 euros. This work, which seeks to 'exorcise' abuse, had previously won the Max Award 2026 for best revelation show. The text is inspired by the story of Noa Pothoven, a victim of abuse who died voluntarily in 2019.
The audience award, also endowed with 4,000 euros, went to ‘Original Greek’, produced by the company Marina Toniovic (Valencia) and performed by Toni Agustí and Marina Alegre. The play narrates a couple's trip to Athens seeking an authentic and environmentally conscious experience. It will be shown again at the Sagunt a Escena festival on August 6.
The finalist plays, each receiving 3,500 euros, were ‘El cuerpo’ and ‘El acontecimiento’. ‘El cuerpo’, a co-production by Valencian companies Fugint de l’Escalímpal and Teatro a Destajo, is a monologue performed by Sabina Hervàs about a critical night for a woman on her 30th birthday.
Meanwhile, ‘El acontecimiento’, by the Valencian company La Perra Coja, tells the story of Annie, a student in France in 1963 who seeks a clandestine abortion upon discovering her pregnancy.
The ‘Escènia’ festival has established itself as a reference point for emerging stage creation at a national level, attracting a young and adult audience and demonstrating consistent growth within the theater circuit.
