The Protected Designation of Origin Valencia has opened the first phase of its Interpretation Center, a cultural and educational space located in the heart of the city to bring wine culture closer to the public.

The new space, located on the ground floor of the Regulatory Council's headquarters at Carrer Quart 22, Ciutat Vella, aims to be an entry point to the world of DOP Valencia wines. It combines education, heritage, and wine tourism with an immersive proposal using visual, tactile, and olfactory resources to experience the aromas, flavors, and nuances of wine.
Visitors can learn about different soil types, traditional farming tools, and the history of local designations of origin, aiming to move beyond the traditional exhibition concept to foster an experience that connects visitors with the link between land, tradition, and wine.

"Valencians are experts at working like no one else, and our history is told by others. That's why I ask you to help us tell your story, because it's the best way for everyone to benefit. I am very proud of you, who are capable of making the best wines and have the will to share it in this Interpretation Center."

Minister of Agriculture, Miguel Barrachina, highlighted the importance of narrating the history of Valencian wines during the inauguration. For his part, Salvador Manjón, president of the Regulatory Council, emphasized the need to promote varieties, territories, and winemaking processes attractively to remove barriers of complexity for consumers.
The space has been renovated using materials such as stone, clay, and iron, linked to the land and historical architecture. The original late 19th-century ceiling has been restored, exposing beams and moldings. Clay is featured in an artisanal wall representing the evolution from vine to bottle.
This first phase of the project includes future additions such as interactive panels, a geographical model of DOP Valencia, and aromatic and textural resources. Subsequently, the Cellar will be renovated to host tastings and pairings.
