The award, presented yesterday at the Official College of Physicians of Valencia during the opening ceremony of the academic year, acknowledges the professional career of Julio Álvarez Pitti, encompassing clinical practice, research, teaching, and child health promotion.
Álvarez Pitti holds a doctorate in Medicine, is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology at the University of Valencia, a researcher at CIBERObn-Carlos III Health Institute, and co-IP of the iPEDITEC research group at the Research Foundation of the General Hospital of Valencia. He also coordinates the PAIDO obesity prevention program and the 'Walking with my pediatrician, PAIDO' intervention program within his service. Additionally, he serves as a medical advisor for the Generalitat's Esc@laSAlut technological project, an open-access app promoting healthy lifestyles in schools.
His scientific activity focuses on projects related to the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity, physical activity, and cardiometabolic risk. He is a principal investigator or collaborator in 38 projects and has authored 78 scientific publications. He actively participates in organizations such as the SVP, AEP, and SEEDO, and contributes to health promotion campaigns.
