The Valencia City Council, through the Municipal Sports Foundation and in collaboration with the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, is promoting the second edition of the Solidarity Race. The popular sporting event will be held on November 8th, with start and finish lines on the Alameda promenade, in the section between the Flores Bridge and the Exposició Bridge.
The Councilor for Sports, Rocío Gil, has encouraged citizens to participate in this unique event, highlighting that "solidarity and the best values of sport unite us." The goal is to support those most in need and join good causes.
The race will allocate the entire registration fee to three solidarity entities and causes. Participants can choose during registration which cause they want 70% of their fee to go to, while the remaining 30% will be distributed equally among the other two, thus ensuring a common solidarity investment in the research.
The event was created with the aim of uniting three races and causes that were previously held separately, thereby amplifying the solidarity impact. This year, the funds will be allocated to research on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), lung cancer, and multiple sclerosis.
To facilitate participation for everyone, various distances have been established. There will be a competitive 5K race, two non-competitive 5K and 2K walks. Additionally, children's races will be held starting at 10:20 AM, divided into categories: under-14 (1km), under-12 (800m), under-10 (600m), under-8 (400m), and under-6 years old (200m).
Registrations are now open and can be made until November 5th. The fee is €10 for the 5K races, €5 for the 2K Walk, and €3 for the children's races. A Dorsal 0 (Bib 0) is also available for voluntary financial contributions ( €5, €10, €15, or more). Optionally, the official race t-shirt can be purchased for €5.
The race route will be along the Alameda promenade. The competitive 5K race will start at 9:00 AM, followed by the 5K walk five minutes later. The 2K walk will start at 9:30 AM, and the children's races will conclude the event starting at 10:20 AM.
This social initiative aims to raise awareness for solidarity causes, bring citizens closer to the work of associated entities, and generate resources for their projects. Collaborating in the organization are the Spanish Association of Lung Cancer Patients (AEACaP) and the ADHD Association más 16 Valencia, in addition to the ADHD entity.
The event is part of the calendar of the VCRunning Club, which rewards participation in Valencia City Running races, offering points to both runners and volunteers.
