CSIC research institutes in the Valencian Community are launching the second edition of WoMent, a mentorship program designed for predoctoral researchers to enhance their academic and professional development.

Following the success of its first edition, the equality committees of CSIC research institutes in the Valencian Community are launching the second edition of WoMent. This pioneering mentorship program is specifically designed to support the academic and professional growth of predoctoral female researchers. The initiative aims to foster scientific vocations, strengthen the skills of future doctors, promote leadership, and help reduce the gender gap in various scientific disciplines.
The program is based on an individual mentorship model designed to inspire young scientists through the experience of established researchers. Participating doctoral students will receive personalized support, guidance, and role models to help them navigate the challenges of a research career. Each mentorship relationship will consist of three sessions of approximately one hour, which can be conducted in person, online, or in a hybrid format, along with a final group session for all registered participants.
WoMent is open to both mentors and predoctoral researchers (mentees) affiliated with CSIC centers or joint centers (CSIC-University/Generalitat Valenciana) in the Valencian Community. Potential mentors include consolidated researchers, Ramón y Cajal staff, postdoctoral researchers, and innovation agents willing to collaborate voluntarily. Guidelines and materials will be provided to guide the tutoring process.
Mentees will be doctoral students in their final or penultimate year of their thesis. Their participation will allow them to receive close and specialized advice aimed at strengthening their skills and exploring new opportunities in academic, scientific, and technological fields.
The registration form is available at this link until October 31, 2026. Subsequently, the organization will form the pairs, and after the final participant list is published, the mentorship sessions will take place from January to June 2027.
Through WoMent, CSIC in the Valencian Community reaffirms its commitment to equality and the promotion of female talent, offering an intergenerational space to share experiences, create role models, and foster innovative solutions for a more diverse and equitable scientific system.
