The Valencian capital is embracing innovation with the Edison AR project, a solution developed by local company Brainstorm Multimedia. This technology will enable conferences and presentations to be transformed into immersive experiences using augmented reality and XR technologies, without attendees needing special glasses or devices.
The initiative is part of the Valencia urban sandbox, using the Palau de Congressos as a testing ground. Innovation Councillor Paula Llobet has emphasized that the project helps innovative companies validate their technologies in real-world environments, accelerating their development and bringing innovation closer to citizens.
Edison AR allows speakers to interact in real-time with three-dimensional digital content integrated into the auditorium's screen, aiming to improve audience attention, message comprehension, and the communicative impact of events.
A first real-world test of this technology took place during the 38th SERAM Congress, a significant scientific gathering. The Edison AR solution was applied to a league of clinical cases, where teams of young medical specialists participated in a virtual ring, demonstrating its capability for large-scale events.
Paula Llobet highlighted that the urban sandbox allows for responsible experimentation, positioning the Palau de Congressos as an international benchmark in event innovation.
The tests, spanning nine months, include system installation, technical trials, event demonstrations, and training for technical staff. Aspects being evaluated are interaction with real-time 3D content, synchronization between physical and virtual elements, integration of visual identity, and ease of use.
The project will also analyze the impact of immersive presentations on audience attention and participation, as well as the potential for extending the technology to other municipal spaces. The councillor added that the aim is to explore how emerging technologies like augmented reality can add value to the city's strategic infrastructure.
Edison AR offers advantages such as glasses-free augmented reality in auditoriums, cloud-based content management, and specific adaptation for complex spaces. Beyond technological validation, the project will provide specialized training, results reports, and six months of free system use.
Brainstorm Multimedia, with over thirty years of experience, has advanced its XR technologies for in-person events with Edison AR.
