The municipal plan for the regeneration of Casitas Rosas, located in Malva-rosa, includes the demolition of the two most deteriorated blocks. In their place, an educational center and 545 new homes will be built. This was announced by the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, during the city's state of the union debate.
The Local Government Board will soon approve the initiation of procedures for the environmental assessment of the plan, a crucial step to address long-standing neighborhood demands. Catalá recalled that in 2025, a diagnosis of building habitability was carried out, and a reform plan was announced, which is now being materialized.
According to projections, approximately 30% of the 545 planned homes will be public protection housing, totaling around 163 units. The plan also allocates over 6,200 square meters to green spaces with play areas and 7,300 square meters to educational facilities.
In other news, Catalá announced the regeneration of the social housing complex Virgen del Carmen in Beteró, an area needing structural improvements since the 1957 Valencia flood. The intervention will cover over 71,000 square meters to enhance residents' quality of life, increasing green spaces by 40% and creating more play areas.
Regarding the renovation of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the definitive project will be available in the coming weeks, aiming to create a space with its own identity that respects architectural value and increases shaded areas.
Finally, the mayor indicated that next week the first phase of the redevelopment works for Plaza de San Agustín, Avenida del Oeste, and San Vicente will begin. This project, spanning over 9,000 square meters, includes sidewalk expansion, new green spaces, tree planting, and the installation of pergolas for sun protection.
