The waste collection and cleaning service for the Devesa-Albufera area of the València City Council removed approximately 652 kilograms of light waste during August. This initiative, ongoing since mid-April, involved four daily operators from Monday to Friday, plus Saturdays.
According to the councilor for Devesa-Albufera, José Gosálbez, 172 bags of 100 liters were collected. Gosálbez highlighted the daily presence of FCC-Equal workers, who not only collect trash but also identify and report issues for continuous park management.
The work focused on various wooded areas, surroundings of parking lots and restaurants, zones near residential areas, beach access points, and the edges of main roads. The councilor emphasized that cleaning is a year-round priority, especially in summer when visitor numbers increase.
Gosálbez noted that the amount of waste collected in August was lower than in July. This was partly due to the closure of certain areas because of red alerts for high temperatures and the service being inoperable for two days following a fire at the end of August. Despite these challenges, the service continued its operations in the accessible areas.
From April 15th to the end of August, a total of 3,142 kg of small waste has been accumulated, excluding large items requiring special transport. Gosálbez stressed the importance of protecting the Devesa with resources and constant work, stating, "The priority is to protect the Devesa and ensure it can be enjoyed by Valencians."
The service's operational area extends from the Devesa Firebreak to the Gola del Perellonet, and from the beach dunes to the CV-500 road.
