From September 7th, the C1, C2, and C6 Cercanías railway lines, connecting various municipalities in L'Horta with Valencia and other points in the metropolitan area, will begin to receive new services. This measure is part of Renfe's reinforcement plan for the Valencia hub and will coincide with the arrival of 41 new Civia 465 units, which will increase transport capacity by up to 30%.
The increase in services will be implemented gradually throughout September as the delivery of the new trains is completed. The C6 line, linking València Nord with Castelló de la Plana and serving towns in L'Horta Nord, will add seven new services. With this expansion, the C1 and C6 lines will jointly offer a total of 79 daily services.
Meanwhile, the C2 line, connecting València with Xàtiva and Moixent and serving municipalities in L'Horta Sud, will also see its offering progressively increased. Renfe highlights that the new timetable will better adapt to user needs, facilitating commutes such as those linked to the Universitat Politècnica de Gandia campus.
The C1 line, which connects València Nord with Gandía, will initially receive ten additional services, with the possibility of further expansion if mobility demands require it.
The arrival of the 41 Civia 465 trains will bring a significant capacity improvement. Each unit has 748 seats, 200 more than current models, and a higher number of seats (277). The incorporation of these vehicles, with an average age of 17.2 years, will reduce the average age of the Cercanías fleet in Valencia from 27.8 to 17.2 years. Renfe has invested over seven million euros in the overhaul and preparation of these trains, including improvements in air conditioning and reliability.
These Civia 465 units come from the Madrid network, where a fleet reorganization is underway to meet high demand. The series 447 units currently operating in Valencia will be transferred to the Basque Country to improve the accessibility of its railway network.
