The Valencian town of Buñol is preparing to host the Tomatina once again, a festive and fun confrontation that will fill its streets with tomatoes. The event will take place on August 26, 2026, and over 150,000 kilograms of tomatoes are expected to be thrown during one hour.
The festival will culminate with the sound of a firecracker in the town square, marking the end of a tradition that originated from an argument in 1945. Since then, the Tomatina has become one of the most internationally recognized events.
This year's program will begin at 9:00 AM with a welcome breakfast offered by the Buñol City Council. At 10:00 AM, attendees can participate in the «Palo Jabón» challenge, a contest involving climbing a greased pole to reach a ham at the top.
The Tomatina itself will commence at 11:00 AM. To participate, attendees must purchase a ticket, wear old clothes and comfortable footwear, and protect their eyes with goggles.
In addition to the general ticket, various packages are offered, including round-trip bus transport from Valencia, battle accessories, cloakroom service, an official t-shirt, and options with paella and sangria included.
