Despite the year beginning still conditioned by the effects of the October 2024 DANA (a severe weather event), the company managed to boost its income. However, this revenue improvement did not translate into net profit, which saw a slight reduction from 11.3 million euros to 10.8 million euros, primarily due to a drop in financial income. Operating result, on the other hand, remained nearly stable at 13.45 million euros.
Avanqua, chaired by Celia Calabuig, distributed a dividend of 10.4 million euros, up from 8.94 million the previous year. The Valencian group Global Omnium, chaired by Eugenio Calabuig, is Avanqua's majority shareholder, holding an 88% stake since 2021 after a capital increase it covered alone.
Ticket sales continue to be the Oceanogràfic's main economic driver, contributing 52.4 million euros in 2025. This was supplemented by 18.3 million euros from catering and 6.5 million euros from merchandising.
The company explains that visitor numbers in the early months were affected by the DANA, resulting in a slightly lower total than in 2024. However, performance improved throughout the year, with a "significant recovery" in the fourth quarter, attributed to the growth in international tourism. The initial forecast of 1.5 million visitors was later raised to 1.9 million, contributing to what the operator deems "positive" results.
In 2025, Avanqua invested 5.06 million euros in tangible assets, including new access turnstiles, remodeling of entrance plaza shade areas, a new photovoltaic plant, and work for the Arctic-Antarctic campaign. The company also ended the year with 2.33 million euros in ongoing investments, mainly in maintenance and biology, expected to become operational in 2026.
For 2026, Avanqua forecasts reaching 1,870,000 visitors, a figure they consider realistic but subject to external factors such as extreme weather alerts or the impact of climate change on holiday habits.
