The City Council of Villena has been awarded the Más Bici seal by La Vuelta, a recognition that certifies the municipality's commitment to promoting the bicycle as a means of transport and a tourism resource.

The distinction, promoted by the La Vuelta es Más program, evaluates municipal actions in five key areas: governance, infrastructure, sports, tourism, and education. This initiative seeks to generate a positive and lasting impact in towns that actively encourage the use of this vehicle.
In the governance section, the incorporation of electric bicycles into the Local Police service and collaboration in mobility campaigns were highlighted. Regarding infrastructure, the jury valued the creation of safe school environments and the installation of new bicycle parking facilities in the city.
The sports and tourism sectors were also key to obtaining the seal. The committee highlighted the dynamism of the local associative network and the use of resources such as the Vía Verde del Chicharra and the Sierra de Salinas to boost rural cycling tourism.

"Villena projects valuable potential in rural cycling tourism, supported by the optimal use of key assets such as the Vía Verde del Chicharra and strong institutional backing for its associative network."
