The Villena City Council has convened CECOPAL in response to an orange alert for heavy rain and wind, ordering the closure of parks and the dismantling of the weekly market before noon.

In response to the orange-level alert issued by AEMET for heavy rain and wind gusts, expected from midday today until 8:59 PM, the mayor of Villena, Fulgencio Cerdán, has convened CECOPAL (the preventive coordination body for emergency situations).
As a precautionary measure, the closure of municipal parks and gardens, the sports center facilities, and all outdoor activities organized by the City Council has been agreed upon. Additionally, the weekly market must dismantle its stalls before noon.
The council advises citizens to avoid walking in wooded areas and to stay away from walls, cornices, fences, or unstable structures. People are also asked to secure items on balconies and terraces that could fall into public areas, as well as to close windows and secure awnings.
During the period the alert is active, it is recommended to limit road travel and follow the instructions of the responsible safety and emergency authorities.
