The Soneja Health Center will undergo a comprehensive renovation after the City Council secured a grant of over 225,000 euros from the Conselleria de Sanitat (Ministry of Health). The project presented by the Council was highly rated in the competitive call for aid aimed at architectural interventions in primary care auxiliary clinics.
Key improvements include the creation of a new auxiliary emergency room, expansion of the medical service area, and the waiting room to increase seating capacity. Measures for universal accessibility are also planned, such as widening doors, installing an automatic entrance door, adapting the public service counter, and updating signage, to facilitate use for individuals with reduced mobility.
The project also incorporates enhancements to interior comfort and energy efficiency, including the installation of an aerothermal system, air renewal with a heat exchanger, and window replacement. The works will be executed in a single phase, estimated to take three months during 2027.
During the construction period, healthcare services will be gradually relocated to the Exhibition Hall in the Casa de la Cultura, an adjacent municipal building connected to the Health Center, ensuring continuity of care.
“"Having adequate health facilities is important to guarantee a public service in good condition. This intervention will improve accessibility, comfort, and the distribution of spaces within the Health Center, addressing specific user needs."
The Mayor of Soneja, Benjamín Escriche, emphasized that securing this grant allows for an intervention whose cost will be fully covered, aiming to provide the Health Center with more accessible and functional spaces while maintaining services for the population during the renovation.
