This Friday, October 2nd, at 7:30 PM, the inauguration of the exhibition "Women of the Transition" will take place at the Municipal Archive in Ibi. This exhibition is part of the activities scheduled for the "V Jornades de Memòria Democràtica de l’Alcoià i el Comtat" (V Democratic Memory Conference of L'Alcoià and El Comtat). The exhibition's curator, Mónica Moreno, will attend the opening event.
The exhibition, which can be visited from October 2nd to 30th, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, recovers and highlights the experiences, initiatives, and struggles of women who actively participated in building a freer and more democratic society. The exhibition focuses on their presence in social, political, and citizen movements, and their contribution to the achievement of rights and freedoms.
The aim of the exhibition is to strengthen a civic and democratic collective memory, ensuring that women are not absent, by recovering voices and experiences that have historically been overlooked. Nuria Pina, deputy mayor for the area, stated that "their history allows us to better understand our recent past and the path taken towards democracy and equality. This exhibition claims the protagonism of women in the Transition and invites us to recognize their essential role in the democratic society we inherit today".
