The Alcoy City Council has reviewed its participatory childhood budgets, an educational program that consolidates children's right to decide with a historical 94% execution rate. Since data collection began in 2017, thirty-six projects have been presented and approved, with thirty-four fully executed or currently underway.
Among the implemented proposals are improvements to local facilities, such as traffic lights with timers, the construction of birdhouses, the organization of themed 'escape rooms', and enhancements to the tube park, as well as road safety education circuits.
The council explained that some ideas, like outdoor sports events, could not be completed in 2019 due to health restrictions during the pandemic. These proposals, classified as current expenses, could not be carried over to the following fiscal year according to current economic regulations.

The Councilor for Participation, Aroa Mira, highlighted the importance of this initiative in fostering civic values and democratic responsibility among young people. The city plans to continue this highly successful program in the upcoming school years.
